Funny You Should Ask…

When was the first time you really felt like a grown up (if ever)?

Last week, my 28 year old got into a fender bender. She immediately called her parents asking for advice. It’s not her first accident. I’m happy to help no matter how many times. There’s extensive damage to her car, but it is still drivable.

I was 22 when I had my first fender bender. Luckily, the cars could still operate. The other driver and I exchanged insurance. No police necessary.

The next day, I called the insurance company all by myself and went through the claim process. The only thing my mother provided was the phone number of the insurance company.

I remember telling my mom a few years later about items like filing insurance claims, travel plans and job interviews long after I did them. I wasn’t hiding anything from her, just that they were things I did all by myself… with little or no hesitation.
