The ATL and Beyond

What is your favorite place to go in your city?

Atlanta

I have a few places in Atlanta I like to visit, but I would say my most favorite is the Virginia-Highlands.

There are small independently owned shops, a variety of bars with sports and live music and great restaurants. I bring friends and family here and they are amazed how a big city can also have a small town neighborhood feel.

Outside of Atlanta

When visiting friends and family outside of the metro Atlanta area, the best places to go in any county or big town is their town square.

McDonough, GA is the “ Geranium Capital of the World “ The annual Geranium Festival is held every May.

McDonough, GA is forever growing and has great restaurants and places to see live music. It us beautifully decorated for holidays. One of the biggest holiday attractions is the Fall Scarecrow Contest where businesses and schools display cleverly crafted scarecrows, the Christmas Parade, and the New Year’s Eve Geranium Drop.

Downtown Carrollton, GA has a four- way intersection running through it. There are restaurants and shops on all four corners.

Carrollton, GA ( a college town )has great restaurants and old fashioned type shops. My favorites are The Vinyl Frontier ( record store) and the Underground bookstore. There are plenty of places to just sit and people watch.

Athens, GA ( an even bigger college town) has many squares and us a music mecca. During our last visit, they we’re holding the Athens Music and Arts Festival and had a blast. It brought me back to my college days.
