What experiences in life helped you grow the most?
The death of a parent.
I was only 15, and it happened in an instant. My dad was not sick, no prolonged illnesses. He simply collapsed of a heart attack.
I lost my guide and my rock. I was on my own. My mom shut down. I pursued my education and did my best to graduate high school and go to college.
I would have fun with friends, but I would learn what I wanted in life wasn’t the same as my friends. We began to grow apart.
It was hard at first to the point I became depressed. I always had at least one friend I could rely on, but now I have none.
I would soon meet my present-day husband who taught me the importance of hobbies and activities. It’s ok to be alone.
In time, other major events would take place that would cause changes; marriage and beginning families. I always believe these are events where you find your true friends and you get the adrenaline kick that allows you to forge ahead and believe in yourself.
