Turns out, I have.

Have you ever broken a bone?

I never had a cast on my leg, foot or arm. Never needed a sling or crutches.

But there was this one time I thought I bruised my heel. No biggie. That is until the pain wouldn’t go away.

I went to a podiatrist who took x rays. The heel was fine, but my pinky toe was broken. It didn’t hurt. I had no clue.

He sent me to an orthopedic surgeon who discovered two broken toes.

How? Simple. I’m told you wake up in the middle of the night and bump the end of the bed or the corner of the nightstand or a wall. Thinking it’s nothing. But guess what? It is.

I ended up needing surgery where pins were placed in my toes to straighten them out. I had to wear a huge bandage and a clunky shoe.

Lesson in this: DO NOT WALK AROUND BAREFOOT OR IN JUST SOCKS. Always have bedroom slippers or better yet, house shoes. The crocs are perfect for this.
