Are there things you try to practice daily to live a more sustainable lifestyle?
I recycle plastic and cardboard. I don’t like throwing things out to only end up in a landfill…especially plastics.
I challenge myself every summer to reuse items instead of just throwing them out and buying new ones.
In time, I with like to a fruit and vegetable garden. Right now, I have just herbs and flowers. That’s a start.
With a garden comes composting.
I switched over the re-usable coffee pods to cut back on the plastic disposable ones. Even if I have them ( for guests) I save them and open them up with an exact knife so I can compost the coffee and the filter.
I’ve been purchasing cage free and free range eggs. They’re pricier, but the shells are better for composting.
All fruit and veggie scraps go in to compost. These days, I purchase my produce at produce stands and farmers markets.
Other than that, I rely on a clothes line for naturally drying clothes and towels. It drastically cuts down on the use of my dryer. I also have an indoor drying rack for winter months and to dry items that I’ve cannot bring outside 😜
My emerging garden is increasing the butterfly and bumblebee population. My nephew down the block purposely let one square foot of his backyard to grow out in order to attract the butterflies and bumblebees. At night, he was entertained by something that only occurred in his yard
