We’re Baaaack!!!

I know I haven’t written in a while. Work was busy this semester. Where I am, things are becoming more normal. We’re not out of the Covid woods, but we are moving around more. School just ended for the summer and we’re planning go go back to business as usual. That means formal evaluations and , most likely, teacher dress code. I’m other words, we can’t wear our jeans every day. I’m OK with that. Meanwhile, Tony and I are becoming more mobile. For the first time in a long time, we are traveling out of state. First trip was in April where we got to see Alex perform with Atlanta Quest at the national WGI competition in Dayton, OH. On this trip, Tony and I discovered many new things. 1- our next car will be something along the lines of a Nissan Rogue. 2- I added two new states to my visit list; Kentucky and Ohio. 3- We hoped to visit the world famous Buc-ees, and we did….TWICE!!. First in Calhoun, Ga on the way to Dayton, then in Kentucky on the way back home. It was everything people said it was and more. Finally, one place I can cross off my list is where we went to breakfast on our way home- Tim Hortons. I always hear about them; they’re all over Canada and Buffalo. Basically, it’s Canada’s answer to Dunkin Donuts. Tony said the ones in Buffalo are bigger. The next month we did another road trip; this time to Leesburg, VA for a friend’s daughter’s wedding. Again we rented the Nissan Rogue. It was not as updated as the last one, but it was comfortable for this longer drive. No Buc-ees to be found. There are very few outside of Texas. We got there late and had a wonderful reunion with Tony’s high school buddies; friends we haven’t seen in nearly 20 years. This year, they celebrated their 60th birthday . Most are retired from their jobs and pursuing other interests. All the kids are grown, in college, out of college or, in the case of Marisa, married. We said we need to do possibly have annual reunions. Twenty years is way too long. My son told me when he begins to plan his wedding, we can invite the friends. In addition to Tony’s friend reunion, I had my own friend reunion with one high school friend who visited Atlanta with her family. It’s been over 30 years since we saw each other. We took in a Braves game and did a lot of catching. Along with trips, we began planning to see some concerts; another pastime we haven’t done in almost 10 years.
